Iran is a country in which high and extensive chains of mountain have surrounded its immense desert plains.
The meeting of the mountains and desert has brought up a specific climate that people call four-season, meaning that you could experience the four seasons simultaneously.
Iran has two main and extensive chains of mountains which include the northern one (Alborz) and the northeastern-southeastern one (Zagros).
Alborz mountain chain has almost covered all the northern part of the country in south borders of Caspian Sea.
Alborz with the longitude of more than 1400 kilometers and the mean latitude of 100 kilometers has been drawn from northwest to northeast. It has more than 50 summits more than 4000 kilometers high, among which Damavand is the highest volcanic summit with the height of 5671 meters in the Middle East.
Alborz chain is divided in to three main parts, eastern Alborz which is quite low in height with dense vegetation, central Alborz which has widespread high summits where exist Damavand, and the western Alborz(Iranian Alp) with high summits and natural ice houses.
