Whether you need a visa or not depends on where you come from and where you are traveling to. Citizens of about 60 countries do not need a visa to enter Iran for traveling purposes. Citizens of most other countries can obtain a visa upon arrival from most major Iranian airports, but for peace of mind, they can also apply for visas in advance. Visas on arrival for citizens of most countries only allow a 15-day stay. For US, British and Canadian citizens, due to the lack of consular services in Iran, they must have previously approved a route and a tour operator before applying for a visa from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Most travel agencies will do this for you. No Israeli citizen is allowed to travel to Iran. People who have an Israeli stamp on their passport will also be denied entry to Iran. All citizens, except Israelis, can travel to Kish Island, a popular tourist island, without a visa for two weeks.

The steepest volcanic mountain, Mythical Damavand peak, deserves to be hiked more than 20 times from different faces. This attractive mountain is a national wealth. Pure sulfur atop Damavand and its application in various industries centuries ago, was one of the sought-after ways of earning a living. Damavand volcano is a majestic stratovolcano located 70 km NE of Tehran and 70 km south of the Caspian Sea. Mt Damavand is the highest peak in the Middle East and the second highest volcano in Asia (after Kunlun volcano in Tibet).

Persian Food
Iran is home to a diverse and distinct cuisine that has evolved over three millennia, influenced by both the arid environment and the changing cultures that have swept through the country. The result is a cuisine with great regional variations depending largely on locally available produce – think camel kabab and dates in the desert, fish on the Gulf coast and a huge variety of vegetable dishes (with meat, of course) in the fertile Caspian provinces of Gilan and Mazandaran.
